TAG! You're it!

Hey hey, guess who has been super lazy and taken exactly zero photos for their blog lately? This guy. Therefore, today I bring you a tag post, where I'm going to answer some random beauty related questions I found by googling! (ahh the wonders of the internet)

1. EEK! You’ve got five minutes to do your makeup for a date. What’s your minimum?
Honestly, I'd be fine with just a little mascara. But, if I had any blemishes, I'd need a concealer too. Beyond that I could go pretty minimal, I mean of course I'd love some eyeshadow, but in five minutes that just ain't gonna happen.
2. Pick a trend—crazy cat eyeliner, super hot pink blush, or feathered false lashes?
Hmmm, I'd have to go eye liner here I think. My cheeks are naturally pretty rosy, so the blush would just be too much, and lashes are just so much effort.
3. If you had to either give up all makeup for two months or give up your skincare for a week, which would you pick?
Let's be real here, my skincare routine is erratically executed at best. So I'd give that up, considering it's something I don't do as regularly as I should anyway. Plus a week vs two months is seriously imbalanced, this question is too easy.
4. What beauty products are always in your bag?
My favourite Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm is always, always, always with me. That's the only thing I constantly change from bag to bag. All my other beauty products stay at home, unless I'm wearing a lip product that I'll need to reapply.
5. Are there any beauty products that you keep coming back to throughout the years?
Since I'm only 18, my beauty using days haven't been that lengthy but I'd say that Maybelline Falsies Mascara is something that I've repurchased a couple of times since I started consistently wearing makeup.
6. Smokey eyes or red lips?
Smokey eyes definitely. Y'all know I'm an eyeshadow girl and I just find bold lips to be too high maintenance. Plus there's an unlimited number of different sorts of smokey eyes you can do, but a red lip will always be a red lip.
7. Lipstick or lip gloss?
I hate lipgloss. It's sticky and gross. So lipstick definitely, and preferably matte to avoid any slip or stick.
8. Are there any products that you never expected to like but ended up loving?
Bronzer. Okay so I don't love it, but I can appreciate its merit now, whereas before I just couldn't get it to look right on me. Still haven't found a holy grail though, if you have any recommendations, please let me know!
So I hope you enjoyed that, I know it was short, but let's be honest, who wants to read a suuuuper long text post. Proper posts coming soon, I promise, I'm exactly a week away from uni holidays!

Little NYX Haul

A couple of weeks ago I entered a giveaway on the NYX Cosmetics Australia Facebook page on a whim, not expecting anything to come of it. The next day I got a message from the page saying that I was one of the lucky winners and that I could expect my prize-pack in the mail soon. Last week I received the pack and I was so happy. I had a massive essay due in at uni that I had just finished that day, so the pack was the absolute best reward.

How cute is this little bag it came in? I love the black and white colour scheme, so sleek and pretty. Inside there was some black tissue paper and, of course, products! The sum total of the products in the bag would be around AUD$55 which is pretty amazing considering I didn't have to do anything remotely challenging to win.

Here are the products I received:

  • Glam Shadow Stick in Dazzling Quartz (Target Price: $9.95)
  • Za Za Zu Mascara ($14.95)
  • Butter Gloss in Peaches and Cream ($9.95)
  • Glam Shadow in Soprano (I estimate that this would be around AUD$9)
  • Powder Blush in Dusty Rose ($9.95)

L to R: Butter Gloss, Glam Shadow Stick, Powder Blush, Glam Shadow

I was really pleased with this selection of products. Sadly I already owned the butter gloss, but it's such a pretty colour, I shouldn't have any trouble passing it on to one of my friends. Aside from that though, I haven't tried any of these specific colours, so it was great to be able to try things I might not have otherwise. I adore this blush, it's the exact sort of colour I usually go for, I hadn't seen this one in Target so I'm super happy to have been able to get my hands on it. I've never seen these Glam Shadow pots before, in fact I've never tried a NYX powder eyeshadow. This one is very glittery, presumably because it is 'glam' and I'm afraid that in turn, the shadow is quite chalky, however it it still reasonably pigmented and on top of a primer I'm sure it would do well.

All in all I'm super happy with all this stuff. It was so nice of NYX Australia to send it to me, so I'd like to say a massive thank you to them. Just a little disclaimer, they didn't ask me to talk about these things, they didn't even know about this blog when they sent them. As such, all the opinions expressed are my own, you know the whole spiel.

Happy Mother's Day! ~Lush Mother's Day Haul~

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Even though probably none of you have kids, I hope your weekend is good anyway. Here I am with yet another Lush Haul, somebody needs to stop me. I've had this stuff for a little while, but I figured I'd save it for a Mother's Day post, seemed only appropriate. There's a couple of things in there that aren't from the Mother's Day Limited Edition stuff, but I thought I'd include them anyway.

Wonder Woohoo - $6.50 This thing is ridiculously golden, even more so than the Golden Egg at Easter. Take that as a warning, this will leave your bath with a glittery tidemark. Helpful hint: Use a little bit of spray and wipe to get ride of these stains on your bath, it works a treat. This smells really lovely and citrusy, but the glitter is a bit off putting to be honest.

Inhale Exhale - $5.95 This is one of only two bath bombs they made for Mother's Day, which is a little disappointing because I love bath ballistics and they seem to be doing less and less with each Limited Edition set. This smells clean and fresh, and kind of reminds me of washing powder. A sly nod to mum?

Mumkin - $5.95 Mumkin is so cute and smells delightful! Sort of fruity and floral. The colours of this one have already started to bleed onto the paper bag it is in, so I'd say this is a bubble bar to use pretty soon after you buy it, so it doesn't go bad.

Rose - $5.95 My Rose doesn't look like the one in the catalogue, but I'm really glad, it's so pretty! It looks like a real rose and it has pink glitter through it, not to mention the super cute leaf. Spoiler: it smells like roses!

Non-Mother's Day Stuff

Honey Bee - $6.75 I've never tried this bath ballistic and it's considered to be a Lush favourite so I figured it was about time. Containing rhassoul mud and honey, it is supposed to be very good for your skin, so hopefully it'll help with my dryness this winter!

The Comforter - $10.50 I have no idea how I haven't tried this yet, it literally smells so amazing. I'd give it an equal tie for best-smelling bath product, with the other being the Brightside Bubble Bar. Thank god this one isn't limited edition, as I can see it being a definite favourite. It's on the pricier side, but you could get at least four baths out of this, depending on how many bubbles you like.

Today I had two little helpers when taking photos. Hudson was there as usual, trying to smell (and eat) everything. Then Skip came along and decided that Honey Bee looked rather like a ball he could play with, the little turd.
